I am originally from Switzerland. We had some guests visiting over Christmas and New Year. The plan was to celebrate an American Christmas and the next day a Swiss Christmas. The raclette oven seemed like the best choice for the second event... Everyone loved it. We put all different kinds of meat on the top grill and melted cheese in the bottom part. Of course the traditional potatoes etc were served too. There was enough room for the 8 of us. It's great if you don't want to spend the whole night in the kitchen preparing the dinner and miss out on the fun. If you have a big table and you want to keep it in the middle you'll probably need to get an extension cord. Also, the oven smokes a little bit when you plug it in the first time! Make sure you'll do that before you serve dinner!

ReplyDeleteI gave this to my wife for Christmas and we had a chance to try it out a couple of days later. There were about six of us for dinner all working on it at the same time. It was helpful to dig out some chopsticks we had around the house. The chopsticks were used to move meat around the hot tray. The scoops worked great to heat up cheese. It makes a great piece of fun for family and friend get-togethers. Clean up was relatively easy. Good value for the fun.
ReplyDeleteExcellent product. I cook bacon, hamburgers, tacos and all kinds of other stuff on it. It is so much better than an ordinary grill because ordinary non-stick grills start chipping after a short time. This one is not chipping after months of every day use but the best news is that if and when it does chip, you can just buy a new grill top. You can't do that with an ordinary grill. Love it!
ReplyDeleteWe purchased this from DTY via the Amazon site. Delivery was very prompt. The grill works extremely well, heating the cheese rapidly and evenly. One of your reviewers commented on the construction which doesn't seem as sturdy as some grills which were used in the past, and this may be a valid observation but does not detract from its performance. The non-stick pans are a welcome addition, since the pans which we used in the past were difficult to clean. We have not used the top for grilling or making crepes, since we have raclette with cheese only, but the heat control should make this function easy as well. Reliability has not been tested yet, because we have only used the device twice.

ReplyDeleteWe're enjoying our new raclette so much, I bought one for each of our daughters too. It's perfect for omlettes, crepes, and quesadillas....as well as traditional raclette. Incredibly easy to clean. Perfect for four people... I'd get a second one for more people than that.<br />You're going to need an extension cord, unless your table is up against a wall with an outlet. The price really varied for all three, and yet they're all exactly the same. Anywhere from $126 to $98 dollars. I see it's priced around $99 today.. weird.
