Panini anyone? You know it!

best summer product for women review on Cuisinart GR 1 Griddler Panini Sandwich

Cuisinart GR 1 Griddler Panini Sandwich

I love sandwiches. My typical lunch that I take to work is a turkey sandwich on 100% whole wheat with veggies. While it tastes good, it does not compare to a hot and crispy panini made on this grill . My wife and I have starting eating panini sandwiches once a week for dinner.

The great thing is that there are so many different variations- one day you can do a spicy veggie hoagie with hot peppers and mustard; another day you can do an italian ciabatta sandwich with fresh pesto. And the crispy texture just makes everything taste better, without adding any calories or fat. Grilled Cheeses are amazing using this thing.

If you tend to coat the outside of your sandwich with butter or margarine, try using extra virgin olive oil instead. It tastes just as good, and is much healthier.

The unit is also easy to clean. And the lack of a power switch isn't a problem at all for us. At this price, this is a must-have tool for your kitchen .

  2. Since purchasing this Panini grill, I can honestly say I cannot live without it!...This grill is used in our home on a daily basis to create the most wonderful, non greasy sandwich delights....there is no need to coat the bread with any type of oils to acheive wonderous results. The size of this grill is ideal, as storage and cleaning are a snap. Pair the grill with the book "Simple Italian Sandwiches", also purchased on Amazon at the same time, and you do it all....the combination is a must....5 stars

  3. Normally I'm not one to go crazy over kitchen appliances but I am compelled to sing the praises of this little wonder. This is sad, but my wife and I eat grilled cheese sandwiches a couple of nights a week because we love them so much. It's sort of our dirty little secret. This little miracle has opened up a whole new universe of possibilities. Our old-style Salton grilled-cheese maker would invariable push the top slice of bread out from the rest of the sandwich because of the operation of the hinge, and forget about putting anything in there other than bread and a couple of slices of cheese because it couldn't handle the thickness. With the GR-1 though, you can put a Dagwood-sized sandwich (the floating hinge allows HUGE sandwiches) in and in just a few minutes, the weight of the top plate has compressed the whole thing into a critical mass of concentrated goodness. Anything I can put between two piecs of bread is becoming a panini these days. This will probably take five years off of my life because I have doubled my weekly consumption of molten cheese, but it's worth it.

  4. We purchased the Breville and returned it as it was poorly made and it was literally becoming unhinged. The cuisinart is excellent, reliable, compact, our kids love the toasties. If you're on a diet, beware as this product may get you to eat more fat, bread, etc

We could not be happier with the Cuisinart.

  5. I knew I would enjoy it, but never expected how easy it would be to clean. Very light-weight and easy to handle and comes with a great recipe booklet.

  6. I love this sandwich press - as long as you don't use any gooey ingredients that might spill over - it's easy to clean even though the grill parts are not removable. A little cheese is no problem.

    It works great!

  7. We've had this griddler for 3 months, and it is so easy to clean and store that we use it more than I would have thought. We have made sweet breakfast bagels, savoury grilled sandwiches, quesadillas, etc. The grill seemed very small at first, but it is the perfect size for a couple. I was concerned about the lack of temperature dial but haven't missed it once, the griddler gets hot in a few minutes and cooks very evenly. It produces perfectly grilled paninis in 3-5 minutes. I bought this product online without seeing it, and the build quality is much better than any model I have seen in stores. The griddler comes with a plastic scraper to remove baked-on cheese, but so far a damp cloth has been sufficient to clean it. Its stainless top is also very easy to clean, there again a damp cloth usually does the trick.

Update: over 2 years later, we still use the griddler on a regular basis and love it for same reasons as above. We keep finding new ways to use it and it still looks brand new. Easy to maintain and very happy with quality. Highly recommended!

  8. After reading the reviews of similar products and this one and knowing that I'm always disappointed when I go for the cheap stuff, I bought this one. I am SO glad I did. My son has been a big fan of grilled cheese sandwiches for 5 years now and it's not slowing down. I hate getting out the frying pan (and the butter) and making them the old-fashioned way. With the Cuisinart, I don't have to use butter. The taste is still great! My son gives it a thumbs up. Plus in less time than it takes me to make one the old-fashioned way I can make two. And my son can use it too. It's so easy, just put the cheese in the bread, wait for the green light, put the sandwich on the griddler and watch it do all the work. I've experimented with other kinds of sandwiches and they all turn out perfectly. I even use it to do quesadillas and heat up fish sticks. It works and makes them crunchy. Plus it doesn't heat up the whole house like the oven does.
